The WORDS OF PRIDE Giveaway!

I'm  very excited to announce the first annual WORDS OF PRIDE Giveaway! In honor of international Pride month, WoP focuses on LGBT fiction, presented in a powerful and proud way to readers who love them. Beginning from June 14th you can enter to win a book of choice from below. On the 28th we will draw not one, not two, but MULTIPLE winners! That's right! And not only that, but the first drawn name will also win a $10 Amazon gift card!

So let's break that down.

What is this?

Words of Pride is an ebook and paperback giveaway focusing on LGBT centric titles. These titles feature lesbian, gay, trans*, bi, and even pansexual characters, in stories that may feature their sexuality/gender identity or simply highlight it. The point is that LGBT characters exist in fiction too, even though they can be difficult to find. WoP celebrates Pride month by introducing you to some of the best LGBT titles today.

What are the prizes?

Authors have donated either ebook or paperback (or both) titles. The first winner will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card to use as they wish.

How many winners will there be?

There will be at least one winner for every copy available. If your name is drawn, you will have 24 hours to claim a prize that is still available. At the moment there are 25 prizes so that means there will be at least 25 big winners!

That is to say, if your name is drawn, you get to select a title/bundle of your choosing. I will email you a list of remaining titles to choose from and you must get back to me within 24 hours which one you want, or you forfeit your prize and I'll move on to the next winner.

Who can enter?

Because many of the titles are erotic in nature, we're afraid we have to limit entrants to adults of 18+ years of age. Neither this blog nor the authors involved are responsible for you lying about age. (Please don't lie about your age!)   Otherwise, any adult can enter! The paperbacks, however, will only be mailed to US addresses.

THIS IS SO AWESOME! HOW DO I ENTER?

Take thee to Rafflecopter! *Go to the bottom of the page.* You can up your odds by tweeting, sharing, and otherwise spreading the love on social media! Rafflecopter will select the winners on the 28th.

Please not that by inputting your email address you are verifying that you will receive an email from me if you are a winner. You may also receive an email from the author of the book you've chosen in order to receive your prize. We will not, by any means, spam you.

I can barely contain myself!! What books are available?

All of the books available in the giveaway are listed below! Click on the cover to be taken to the book's Amazon page where you can sample it and read reviews.

But Reina doesn't understand complex concepts like "love" or other heavy emotions. She's spent years supporting her girlfriend via a soul-sucking salary job and tending to their mutual needs in the bedroom. Isn't that sufficient? In a culture demanding Reina choose between the "feminine" and the "masculine" worlds, it's bad enough she's trying to find her role without Aiko adding extra pressure.

Some words need not saying, but "I love you" is about to destroy a relationship already surviving strange side-lovers and even stranger exploits.

In this collection, award-winning author Shanna Germain gathers seven of her darkest, lushest fantasy and horror stories about strong, smart women who know that danger is a matter of scale -- and of which side you happen to be standing on.

The estranged half brothers are rivals, but soon they feel attracted to each other. As if this was not enough of a complication, they begin to suspect that they were set up by their own father. The result is a fierce struggle for power where the lines between hate and love become almost indistinguishable and where nothing is what it seems.

She can't even commit to a relationship, because she fears being smothered and controlled.

Everyone else thinks the threatening message in the snow was a joke. They think Nora's anxious mind conjured up the bouquet of dead flowers in her tent. But Nora knows that Owen is still after her. Nothing will stand in the way of his obsessive desire to possess her.

Not even exile.

Title: Chasing Shadows (Unmaking)
Author: Morgan Bauman
Format: Ebook
Genre: Fantasy
Type: Lesbian

Notes: None

Blurb:

Two women meet after the world's end. Both are missing memories, but they hold fast to what they know and seek out Oases: polycarbonate bubbles housing the few survivors of the Last War. As they strike out into the ruined wasteland, time, space, and reality itself unravel at the seams.

Title: Gastien: The Cost Of The Dream (The Gastien Series, #1)
Author: Caddy Rowland
Format: Ebook
Genre: Historical Fiction / Family Saga
Type: Gay, Lesbian (In later installments)

Notes: Gay characters do take center stage in the later books, but since this is a series the author is offering the first book with minor gay characters because the story is best told from the beginning. The final book very much ties in with the first.

Blurb:

When young Gastien Beauchamp flees the farm for Paris, the late nineteenth century bohemian era is in full swing. Color has always called to him, beseeching him to capture it on canvas and show people a new way of seeing things. His father belittled his dream of being an artist and tried to beat him into giving it up. The dream wouldn’t die, but Gastien would have had he not left.

He also yearns to become a great lover. After the years of anguish he has endured at the hand of his father, it would be heaven to feel pleasure instead of pain.

However, the city of Paris has a ruthless agenda. Unless a man has money and connections, Paris unfeelingly crushes dreams and destroys souls. With neither of the required assets, Gastien faces living in alleys, digging in trash bins for food, and sleeping where a man is often killed for his threadbare blanket.

Left with only his dreams, Gastien stubbornly pushes on. He vows that absolutely nothing will stop him, not yet realizing what keeping that vow might mean. Sometimes the “impossible” is possible – but the cost can be extremely high.

This historical fiction novel is book 1 of a 5 book drama/family saga for adults (The Gastien Series). Each book can stand on its own, but is most compelling read in order.

Title: The Crook And Flail (The She-King, #2)
Author: L. M. Ironside
Format: Ebook
Genre: Historical Fiction
Type: Bisexual, Trans* Themes

Notes: Although this is the second book in a series, it is a stand-alone and can be read on its own. The author is willing to throw in book 1 as well.

Blurb:

Hatshepsut longs for power, but she is constrained by her commitment to maat – the sacred order of righteousness, the way things must be. Her mother claims Hatshepsut is destined for Egypt's throne – not as the king's chief wife, but as the king herself, despite her female body. But a woman on the throne defies maat, and even Hatshepsut is not so bold as to risk the safety of the Two Lands for her own ends.

As God's Wife of Amun, she believes she has found the perfect balance of power and maat, and has reconciled herself to contentment with her station. But even that peace is threatened when the powerful men of Egypt plot to replace her. They see her as nothing but a young woman, easily used for their own ends and discarded. But she is the son of the god Amun, and neither her strength nor her will can be so easily discounted.

As the machinations of politics drive her into the hands of enemies and the arms of lovers, onto the battlefield and into the childbed, she comes face to face with maat itself – and must decide at last whether to surrender her birthright to a man, or to take up the crook and flail of the Pharaoh, and claim for herself the throne of the king.

The first is probably my favorite because it held a special place in my heart for so long--Empress of the World by Sara Ryan. It has its problems, but it was the first thing that made me feel more normal than anything else in the early-mid 2000s.
