For two years Jun and Saya have slowly built a romantic relationship based on love and mutual respect. Although they come from vastly different backgrounds, their determination has helped them carve a home in Nagoya, the city in the heart of Japan.
They assumed it would last forever. Then Jun’s uncle Akihiro drops a surprise on them: they’re moving back to Sapporo, where Jun will finally assume the title of heir to her family’s hospitality empire.
It’s everything Jun has wanted since she began her career fifteen years ago. It’s everything Saya has feared.
Now back in Sapporo, Jun must navigate the anxious waters that will lead her to becoming chairman one day. And Saya must learn to cope with her new glamorous lifestyle, all while fighting back the loneliness that haunts Japan’s northernmost city.
Ex-lovers, new friends, and old drama all come together to put Jun and Saya through their biggest test yet. It’s not enough for them to want to be together zutto, or forever. They must find the one thing that brings and keeps them together the most - a thing more precious than love itself.
“ZUTTO.” takes place from January - June, 2015.

A Tale Of Epic Novels And The Pratfalls They Provide
Ah, I have returned to my blog, full of the proper shame necessary to inform everyone that I am a writer of epic-sized novels (your friendly local neighborhood doorstopper, really,) and this means you can't trust me when I say "lol this huge freakin' book will totally be coming out this month!!!!"
YEAAAAH not really.
To be fair, all previous estimates for a release date for "ZUTTO" were up in the air because they relied on two critical things: editing and other projects going on. As much as I wish I could say I make my bread and butter from writing novels under this name, the honest truth is that I don't. So sometimes projects under this name have to take a backseat and we just gotta roll with it!
But let's remember, my name is Hildred and I am a writer of epic novels. Even if they're romance. Okay, seriously, especially if they're romance.
All this is leading up to a pretty big announcement! First, you really CAN BELIEVE ME when I tell you that ZUTTO will be coming out by, at the latest, May 29th, 2015. Possibly earlier! How do I know I can finally tell you this with great confidence? Why, it's done! It's edited! All that's left is to put on the finishing touches and make it into a beautiful book! IT'S SO CLOSE.
I laugh at myself, really, because things have been so crazy this year. One thing that's made it crazy is a brand new project I'm working on under this name. I basically took all of March off and, yes, a good chunk of April to write a 220,000 word doorstopper. Standalone. Romance. Yes, yes, lesbians in Japan. BUT it's NOT a Ren'Ai Rensai novel! It's a brand new cast of characters albeit a familiar setting (especially if you've read Jiai Jouwa.) I have no idea at this point when it will be released, I'm shooting for sometime this summer, but ahaha, let's make no promises, right?
The novel is called Love, Yumi and you can follow some excerpts I'll be posting at my tumblr. Hope to see you there!

What in the world is going on with "Zutto."?
There's this funny thing about deadlines when you're in charge of everything. They don't really mean anything (other than the meaning the royal you give them) and they're frustrating as all get out.
"ZUTTO.", the third and final installment of the JIAI JOUWA series, and the final RR related book for a good while, was originally meant to come out in December. I didn't think it actually would, but it was a good goal. Naturally, it didn't make the cut. Mostly because it ended up being about 40k words more than I anticipated. (Funny how that happens with me.)
Then I had hoped for January. But a family emergency over the holidays meant it still wasn't ready for the final edits yet. It wasn't ready until a couple of weeks ago, with the hope that maybe February would bring some JJ love. Oops. Turns out everyone in the chain of production is busy this time of year, and with a monster novel like Zutto, well...
This is not an excuse post. But in this business roadblocks happen. In this case those roadblocks are people doing people things and Hildred writing a huge novel because why the hell not. This means that Zutto will probably not see a February release, but as soon as I have a good idea of when it will be out you all will be the first to know.
There is some good news! Production of my next planned book (a standalone lesbian romance) is well underway, will be considerably shorter (HAHA JINXED IT) and thus should be out fairly soon after Zutto. My goal is to still get three full length novels out this year and a short novella series at least deep into development by the end of the year.
And then fantasy time!
Thank you all for your patience. If you have some time and some extra love, share it with my amazing editor who is the one who has to sit down and slog through RR edits every time going, "Damnit, Hildred, one of these days i am going to torch your long-ass novels and take away everything you love. Just as soon as I get done howling at your ridiculous typos." Without her, Aiko would have turned into a bear halfway through one of the RR novels, apparently. (It's not a shifter novel, I swear!)

Update On 2014 Release Schedule
So, there's no denying that I disappeared for a little while there! Last you heard from me, I was in the midst of moving. Surprise! I'm still in the midst of moving. It's been a long, ongoing process that will hopefully come to an end soon.
Couple this with a super big project going on in the background here, and things have been a bit delayed! Therefore I am having to update the remaining release schedule for 2014 under this name.
As of right now this is how things stand:
REN'AI RENSAI BOOK 7: "IKIGAI." - Very late September/Early October (Actual release date forthcoming)
JIAI JOUWA BOOK 3: (Currently Untitled) - Late December (Which would make it almost one year to the day since Book 2!)
REN'AI RENSAI PHOTO GUIDE - Early 2015
The aforementioned standalone sweet romance "THE LONGEST RIVER" will be my first project of 2015.
The reasons for this switch-around extend to more than just my move holding things up. "IKIGAI." was mostly finished when I decided that it wasn't exactly what I wanted for the final book of RR. I ended up going back and retooling a bunch of it so it fits better with the vision I had. I am determined to put out only the best possible story to round-off the main RR series, and I'm excited to share it with you later this month! Suffice to say, cover and blurb reveal will be happening soon enough!
Thanks for your understanding as we restructure some things around here. Right now my main goal, besides what is going on with other aspects, is to finish up the RR universe this year. It's going to be both very bittersweet and a relief. I hope you'll be around for the ride!

A Tentative Release Schedule For The Rest Of The Year
![]() |
| Small preview of things to come! |
Preliminary Schedule (all dates are tentative):
Late June/Early July: REN'AI RENSAI Book 6 "JOSHOKU."
Late August/Early September: REN'AI RENSAI Book 7 (Currently Untitled)
Late October/Early November: Standalone romance novel "THE LONGEST RIVER"
Late December/ Early January 2015: JIAI JOUWA Book 3 (Currently Untitled)*
*This will most likely end the REN'AI RENSAI universe for a while, or at least full length works. What I'll do immediately after I don't know yet!
There will be a few other goodies in there, but I'll talk about those more when I get closer to releasing them. ;) Yes, this includes the world guide for RR! I'm going to release it after Book 7 since that seems most fitting.
Most of these dates, especially the summer ones, are tentative because I'll be making a rather big move in July. It's a good move, and I'm super excited about it, but at the moment I have NO idea how it's going to affect my schedule.
I hope you're as excited for the rest of 2014 as I am. It's gonna be a bit of wild ride with new things coming and old things going, but I think it's going to be very fulfilling. Hope to see you there!

OUT NOW! "AITAI." Book 2 of JIAI JOUWA
![]() |
| Amazon - B&N |
Ten years ago Saya escaped a forced marriage in the house of Hara, granting herself the freedom to follow her will. And for ten years she has been content to live a life of near poverty and menial labor in exchange for being the master of her own destiny. That was until she met Jun, the hotel heiress who stole her heart and taught her what love and protection could feel like.
Now Saya finds herself torn between two worlds: her girlfriend's reality, comprised of formalities and endless wealth, and her own head, which pulls her to the isolation of the Japanese countryside. Jun wants her to settle in the city, yet Saya is not sure she can live with the pressures to conform to high society.
In the midst of this dilemma is the one thing Saya wants more than anything else - a divorce from the man who tried to ruin her life. But the leash connecting her to the Haras runs long, and Saya soon finds that her heart's call of "Aitai," or "I want to see you," not only echoes for Jun when they are apart, but for the people who forced her to become the woman she is today.
"AITAI." takes place from October, 2013 - May, 2014
EXCERPT:
“Let’s get out of here,” Saya said,
resting her chin on Jun’s shoulder. “I’ve always wanted to make love in front
of a fireplace.” No better time than when they were staying in a cabin with one
of those very things.
“And
you say we’re Westernized?”
“What?
Haven’t you done it before?”
Jun
scoffed. “In front of a fireplace? No, I can’t say I have.”
Saya
lifted herself out of her seat so she could nip her teeth against her
girlfriend’s earlobe. Do anything to her
ear and she’s mine all night. Indeed, Jun shuddered and placed her hand on
Saya’s thigh. “There you go. First time for everything.”
“Ehhh.” Jun put down her wine glass. “Oh,
that reminds me. I have something for you.”
Saya
echoed her girlfriend’s ehh as Jun
reached into her inside jacket pocket. She pulled out a little black felt box,
the kind coming from…
All
of the flirtations, the naughty desires disappeared from Saya’s system the
moment she recognized such a box. Don’t
you do it. Not here. Not in a place like this. Not in front of these
people. Not ever! Saya looked around,
wondering if any of the other Isoyas saw this. No. They were all preoccupied.
Deliriously preoccupied.
“Oi, what’s that look for?” Jun touched
Saya’s chin. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Jun…”
Saya scooted away from the table, almost knocking over her wine glass.
A
lurch forward and Jun caught it, rousing the attention of Fujiko from across
the room. The older woman studied her niece’s table with mild interest before
conjuring a laugh for the man whose lap she sat on.
The
black jewelry box remained on the table. Jun snatched it up and opened it
without the fanfare Saya expected from a proposal, or a “just because” gift
that cost millions of yen.
Inside
was a keychain.
“Nani kore?” Saya settled back into her
seat, taking the box from her girlfriend’s hand. Jun looped her arm around
Saya’s chair, and by extent her shoulders, leaning next to her and pointing to
the charm on the chain.
“I
found this while cleaning out some things in my condo. Do you know what it is?”
Saya
picked up the keychain, fingering the charm. It was some kind of Chinese
character, looping and lining a single word that Saya could not read. She
didn’t know if that was because she was a high-school dropout or because she
didn’t study archaic kanji like her
girlfriend did.
“It’s
an old kanji for au. Before it was simplified to the one we use today.” Jun’s slim
finger outlined the parts of the keychain that represented the modern kanji, taken straight from this older
one. “I don’t remember why I got it a long time ago, but I want you to have
it.”
“Nande?” Saya didn’t mean to indirectly
reject her girlfriend’s gift, but she didn’t get it.
“Because
when you’re gone, I want you to know that I want to see you.”
Jun
drew lines down the length of Saya’s short hair while her girlfriend stared at
the charm. “Aitai,” she said beneath
her breath. Just what she needed. A constant reminder that she missed her
girlfriend.
“Here,
give me your cell phone.”
“What?
Why?”
“Because
that’s what you do with charms, silly.”
Saya
stared at her through the corner of her eye as she dug into her bag and pulled
out her cell phone, currently turned off. As
it has been since I met up with her. Jun snatched it from her hand and
looped the string of the keychain through the tiny hole notched into the
plastic case.
“There.”
Jun dangled the keychain in front of Saya’s face. “I should give you presents
more often.”
She
wrapped both arms around Saya and brought her in for a kiss, the heaviest, and
hardest in front of the family like that. No,
no you really don’t have to give me presents. Saya endured the kiss until
Jun pulled away and drank the last of her wine.
It took a few more
kisses and covert touches to the thigh and beneath her shirt to make Saya
remember what she wanted again. Her. I
want her. Not presents, not desserts, not even a rug in front of a
fireplace, which she was only half serious about. No, all she wanted was Jun,
the woman she missed when they were apart. Not that she needed more reminders
of that.Amazon - B&N

Born into an elite family, Jun has spent her life cultivating the professional qualities needed to claim her inheritance, the Nippon Royal Hotel empire. SPECIAL PREVIEW BELOW!
After
finishing her wine and one more haiku, she put her phone away and told the
server she was returning to her room. That was a bit disingenuous. First she
went back into her office to make sure everything was organized for Monday, and
then she went to the front desk to check on Mimi. The night auditor expressed
her gratitude when a sudden late party of twenty people, each pair with their
own room, came to check-in and Jun jumped up to take care of it alongside Mimi.
When they were processed and on their way upstairs, Jun bowed out of work one
last time and finally retreated to her corner of the hotel.
The staff area of the hotel was
emptier than Jun had yet to see it. Without even so much as a custodian pushing
his way through the back hallways, Jun felt like she was walking through an
abandoned building as opposed to a bustling hotel on a weekend. At least this means it’ll be quiet tonight. A
full night’s sleep was what she needed.
She had her keycard out already as
she turned the corner and skipped up the staircase to her room. The shadows on
the top landing stirred, but she paid them no mind. No one else was ever up
there.
Until that night.
Jun nearly had a heart attack as she
stepped off the stairs and saw a figure lingering in the far corner.
“What are you doing here?” she
asked, hand clasped over her chest. Saya glided across the floor, face
illuminated by the shallow lights. Jun only recognized her from her stature and
black jacket. “How did you get here?”
“Does it matter?” Saya’s voice was
gentler than Jun anticipated.
“Yes!”
A grin graced that young appearance.
“No, it doesn’t.”
“I beg to –”
Before she could finish her
sentence, a finger pressed against her lips, silencing her. Jun went cross-eyed
staring at Saya’s hand touching her in an intimate way… again. Who is she? Even for someone her age,
Saya was more brazen than the average person. What does she want? Money? This was a bizarre way to get it. Jun
was one phone call away from summoning security.
And yet…
Between that touch and that look
searing into her, she couldn’t bring herself to demand that Saya leave her
alone. Jun knew that look. She had seen it a hundred times before, on women who
knew what they wanted. It was the universal expression of suggestive desire.
Saya plucked the card key out of
Jun’s hand and turned to the door. Jun watched as the young woman unlocked and opened
the door. Her body was halfway through it when she glanced over her shoulder
and raised her eyebrows.
Chills flurried inside Jun’s chest. What is going on? It’s what her brain
wanted to know. Her intuition, however? It knew. It had known from the moment
Saya came to her at dinner.
Saya let her hand linger on the
doorknob before disappearing. Jun shook her head and grabbed the edge of the
open door. “Chotto matte,” she said, following,
“this is a private room.”
The door latched shut behind her. A
single light was on in the main room of the Isoya Suite, but it was dim,
glowing. Saya stood at the end of the bed, fingers caressing the cream colored
comforter. The key card lay on the dresser. Is
she…
Saya waited for Jun to come near her
before spinning around, chin up and eyes narrow. She bore a scalding look into
Jun’s face, making her tremble without touching her. It reminded her of the
type of look she liked from a certain friend in Tokyo, who dominated her better
than anyone she knew. I like that. Women
usually wanted to be submissive in Jun’s bed.
Silently, Saya picked the front
edges of Jun’s blazer and pulled her closer, until their bodies were as close
as they had been in the hotel lobby earlier that afternoon. But this was
different. Back then Jun reacted on instinct, adrenaline pumping and increasing
her strength. Now she functioned on uncertainty, although her heart raced for
untold reasons. One of Saya’s hands meandered down Jun’s hip and interlocked
with her fingers. The more Saya touched her, the more she…
The more she…
It took her into a trance, the kind that
sucked her down further, further into the floor, where she was a slave to the
woman gazing upon her with serene desire. Jun couldn’t move unless Saya touched
her. Then she could only move away from her, afraid to be too caught up in
those hypnotic eyes. But the only way to go was to the bed, and so Jun sat on
its edge, hand still in Saya’s. Her feet were anchored to the floor for as long
as the trance lasted.
Although she said not a word, Saya’s
demeanor spoke volumes. She looked upon Jun with a knowing so assured that it
was inhuman; she moved her limbs with the fluidity of a graceful dancer. I don’t even know who she is. Saya
slipped her leg between Jun’s, leaning forward as she wrapped her arms around
the back of a hot, shivering head. I
don’t know where she’s from or where she’s going. Jun picked up many one
night stands before in bars, clubs, even conferences, but she had never done
something like this…whatever this was.
A rasping, heavy breath chattered in
Saya’s chest. I’m that close to her. Saya
took Jun’s hand and placed it on her stomach, fingers instinctively curling
around her thick belt. She’s so thin. Jun
had no preference in that regard, but she couldn’t stop staring at the inward
navel poking out from beneath a T-shirt. The trance inside her intensified.
Her hand was guided beneath the soft
cotton of Saya’s shirt, cruising up her abdomen and stopping beneath her
breasts. Oh, God. Jun didn’t believe
in any deities, but she couldn’t help but call upon them when on the brink of
madness.
Saya pushed her over the edge when
she bent down and kissed Jun on the forehead.

Sayaka, who prefers to go by "Saya" as it isn't as feminine, was born in the southwestern prefecture of Shimane, the second least populated prefecture in Japan. Although technically not too far from the metro area of Hiroshima, Saya grew up on the far side of a mountain range and only ever knew her own intimate world growing up, full of farmland, traditional houses, and close-knit communities and families. She also only ever knew the small town, conservative mindset growing up. Her family struggled to support itself with odd jobs and community assistance, fostering an attitude to do little with material things in Saya's early life. During high school, something happened that caused her to drop out and eventually leave her tiny rural town.
Fed up with the life her community tried to feed her, Saya decided to see the rest of Japan and modern society on her own terms. She quickly became a professional "WWOOFER," or someone who does odd jobs around the country in exchange for room and board - and in Saya's case, a very modest payment that covers her costs to get around. Her forte is working on rural farms like the ones she grew up around. Basically, anything that lets her do some physical labor outdoors is something she loves.
Saya does not typically cultivate close relationships. She learned from an early age that most people and their ideologies are not to be trusted, so she keeps her friendly acquaintances at a safe distance and does not let them know her too well. Therefore she has many "friends" she can visit and crash with across Japan, but no one she would call a true confidant.
When she's not WWOOFing in the mountains of Hokkaido, the seasides of Kyushu, or the fertile plains of Chubu and Shikoku mikan groves in between, Saya bides her time in metro areas like Nagoya, Osaka, and sometimes Tokyo, where she stays with acquaintances and does temp jobs if she's staying for more than a month.
Saya may not have many long-term goals or ambitions, but she does have one thing: the fact that she lives for no one but herself, an idea that never occurred to her while growing up in Shimane. However, she is not opposed to leaving some roots in one place for a little while - as in maybe once every other month "a little while." Traveling is in her blood, and the thought of settling down anywhere for more than a few weeks is near traumatizing. Saya is not the type of woman to give up her freedom to be on her own and discover the world at her leisure. Not even for love.
Here we go!
